My First experience

So, this is the first checkpoint after having total freedom to new experiences. In total truth and transparency, it took me far too long to start on yoga but once I did with each time it became easier. The type of yoga I have been following is Vinyasa yoga Which I felt would be more focused on body movements and having some focus on breathing as well. It turned out to be quite a well-rounded experience and I really enjoyed it. Finding time for it became a challenge but once I did, I found myself doing it more. I came home from work one day and found myself with a desire to do yoga workout. It was calming and left me with a different train of thought. To put it into words is interesting but it was a way for me to have a more direct though as if there wasn’t much else to do other than do the movements on video and breathe when they say too. A way to sort of just wind down and relax while still being mindful of what I’m doing.

I also felt a more alertness and with following the breathing in the video felt a more presentness with my body connection. I also found it to be a stress reliever for decompressing when feeling overwhelmed. Within the practice I felt a volition with each movement where there wasn’t much else to be done other than the actions and breathing. I was not that confident going into it with not much experience or hope to do the movements right, but I got the hang of it with each time and really began to enjoy it. This practice is something I could see myself keeping up with as I feel better after doing it. I feel relaxed and elated after finishing the guide videos on YouTube. I didn’t partake in sports much growing up but did start rock climbing in college but this is quite different as rather than being solely centered around physical excursion or achievement of a route it creates a more holistic connection that otherwise would have been lost for me. This sort of big picture idea of how this practice can make a difference in my physical health as well as mental with a rigorous plan set in motion. I think the biggest difference any of this would make would be if I were to have a more set-in stone structure where I do it on specific days rather than only when I have time here and there. Overall, I am excited to see where this goes and for my mind body connection to develop further.
